Bale in top form as a downed pilot in Vietnam
American POWs suffered unbearable pain and humiliation during their imprisonment in the Vietnam War. German filmmaker Werner Herzog writes and directs this powerful film based on the true story of Dieter Dengler. Dengler was a German-American pilot flying a covert operation over Laos in 1965. He survived being shot down, but was captured by the Pathet Lao. They placed him in a horrible prison camp within Laos. This film follows his capture, imprisonment and harrowing escape.
